♦ “pañc-ime, bhikkhave, dhammā an-āyussā.
“Five-(of)-these, *********, things impede-vitality.
katame pañca?
What five?
A-sappāya-kārī hoti,
Doing what is un-suitable,
sappāye mattaṃ na jānāti,
not knowing moderation in what is suitable,
A-pariṇata-bhojī ca hoti,
eating food unfit for consumption,
Dus-sīlo ca,
Poor-morals **,
Pāpa-mitto ca.
Bad-friends **.
ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca dhammā an-āyussā.
These are the five things that impede longevity.

What five?
S-appāya-kārī hoti,
Doing what is suitable,
S-appāye mattaṃ jānāti,
knowing moderation in what is suitable,
Pariṇata-bhojī ca hoti,
eating food fit for consumption,
sīlavā ca,
morals **,
kalyāṇa-mitto ca.
{and} good-friends.
ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca dhammā āyussā”ti.
These are, *********, five things [that promote] longevity.”
