♦ 151. “pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato |
“Monks, endowed with five qualities, |
suṇantopi saddhammaṃ |
even though listening to the True Dhamma, |
abhabbo niyāmaṃ okkamituṃ kusalesu dhammesu sammattaṃ. |
one is incapable of alighting on the orderliness, on the rightness of skillful qualities. |
katamehi pañcahi? |
Which five? |
kathaṃ paribhoti, |
”One holds the talk in contempt. |
kathikaṃ VAR paribhoti, |
“One holds the speaker in contempt. |
attānaṃ paribhoti, |
“One holds oneself in contempt. |
Vikkhitta-citto dhammaṃ suṇāti, |
“One listens to the Dhamma with a scattered-mind, |
an-ek’-agga-citto |
a mind not gathered into one [anek’agga-citto].1 |
A-yoniso ca VAR manasi karoti. |
“One attends in-appropriately.” |
imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato |
“Endowed with these five qualities, |

Which five? |
na kathaṃ paribhoti, |
“One doesn’t hold the talk in contempt. |
na kathikaṃ paribhoti, |
“One doesn’t hold the speaker in contempt. |
na attānaṃ paribhoti, |
“One doesn’t hold oneself in contempt. |
a-vikkhitta-citto dhammaṃ suṇāti, |
“One listens to the Dhamma with an unscattered mind, |
ekagga-citto |
a mind gathered into one [ek’agga-citto].1 |
yoniso ca manasi karoti. |
“One attends appropriately.” |
