kaį¹ ÄbhujitvÄ ujuį¹ kÄyaį¹ paį¹idhÄya parimukhaį¹ satiį¹ upaį¹į¹hapetvÄ. |
Now, at that time Venerable MahÄkappina was sitting not far from the Buddha cross-legged, with his body straight, and rememberfulness established right there. |
AddasÄ kho bhagavÄ Äyasmantaį¹ mahÄkappinaį¹ avidÅ«re nisinnaį¹ pallaį¹
kaį¹ ÄbhujitvÄ ujuį¹ kÄyaį¹ paį¹idhÄya parimukhaį¹ satiį¹ upaį¹į¹hapetvÄ. |
The Buddha saw him, |
DisvÄna bhikkhÅ« Ämantesi: |
and addressed the monks: |
āPassatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, etassa bhikkhuno kÄyassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ phanditattaį¹ vÄāti? |
āmonks, do you see any motion or trembling in that monkās body?ā |
āYadÄpi mayaį¹, bhante, taį¹ Äyasmantaį¹ passÄma saį¹
ghamajjhe vÄ nisinnaį¹ ekaį¹ vÄ raho nisinnaį¹, tadÄpi mayaį¹ tassa Äyasmato na passÄma kÄyassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ phanditattaį¹ vÄāti. |
āSir, whenever we see that monk meditating—whether in the middle of the Saį¹ gha or alone in private—we never see any motion or trembling in his body.ā |
āYassa, bhikkhave, samÄdhissa bhÄvitattÄ bahulÄ«katattÄ neva kÄyassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ, na cittassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ, tassa so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu samÄdhissa nikÄmalÄbhÄ« akicchalÄbhÄ« akasiralÄbhÄ«. |
āmonks, when an undistractible-lucidity has been developed and cultivated thereās no motion or trembling of the body or mind. That monk gets such undistractible-lucidity when he wants, without trouble or difficulty. |
Katamassa ca, bhikkhave, samÄdhissa bhÄvitattÄ bahulÄ«katattÄ neva kÄyassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ, na cittassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ? |
And what is that undistractible-lucidity? |
ÄnÄpÄnassatisamÄdhissa, bhikkhave, bhÄvitattÄ bahulÄ«katattÄ neva kÄyassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ, na cittassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ. |
When undistractible-lucidity due to rememberfulness of breathing has been developed and cultivated thereās no motion or trembling of the body or mind. |
Kathaį¹ bhÄvite ca, bhikkhave, ÄnÄpÄnassatisamÄdhimhi kathaį¹ bahulÄ«kate neva kÄyassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ, na cittassa iƱjitattaį¹ vÄ hoti phanditattaį¹ vÄ? |
And how is undistractible-lucidity due to rememberfulness of breathing developed and cultivated in such a way? |
